DAY 3 A FARM-TO-TABLE

Yup…the title is exactly what we did. We toured the farm and saw how they make their foods…from cured meats and fermented cheeses to the end results…eating it!  The restaurant is called Mrizi Zanave located in the town of Lezhe. It was a 2 and 1/2 hr drive there and back…of course traffic played a part of it.  As you know, Jehovah’s people know how to entertain ourselves…singing, asking bible trival, etc.

Enjoy the pictures:

So surprised to see my spiritual daughter not only at this convention but on the same bus with us.  She stayed with us a couple yrs ago while enjoying pioneer school in Mpls.

Our greeter

Our bus

Our walk up the hill to the farm

The beautiful landscape:

Padre is beautiful too

This is where they made the wine๐Ÿ˜

cured their meats

Making syrup from pine cones

Fermenting cheese…and boy did it stink

The end product

Rose water

The finished product of the pine cone..we got to taste and was very delicious.

In the wine cellar..I think Julie was in heaven…kinda low for heaven. It was another hot day so being in the cellar felt so good.

And then it was time to try everything…and we did…the food (all organic) kept coming and coming.

Pomegranate juice

Cheese

Diffferent kinds of cheeses

Goat meat and potatoes

Pork

Plums and something else..very good tho

Ice cream with coffee beans

Pickled cabbage, okra, etc

And then we all piled on the bus back to our hotel…quite a few of us took a nap on the bus…I know I did.  I think both sets of mamas and the papas did.  I’m pretty sure Kevin didn’t because they had him translating. The bus driver who was not a brother told Kevin that he (Kevin) was half American and half Albanian.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Our bus ride:

And then we went out later and ate.๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.  There’s a story behind this picture. Kev and Bre studies with a young couple that lives in NYC but  grew up in Tirana (husband) and Kosovo/Germany (wife). Since we have been here, we have met his father and his mother and his little sister (sitting to the right of Johnny). I remember thinking how wonderful it would be if he and his lovely wife were here too…guess who surprised everyone.  There’s a video of the entire surprised…I am so happy to see them…our spiritual grandchildren. To have only had one child, I sure have a lot of children now…and I love it!!!๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

P.S. His mother joined us later.  We took pictures but I don’t have it to share.

It was a good day!!

Stay tuned…only one more day of activities until the first day of the convention starts.

WHERE?….OOOHHHH!!!

That’s the common reaction I get when I tell people that we are going to the Special Convention in Albania. “ Where is Albania?”  I tell them next door to Macedonia and Greece…Then the next common response is “Oooooohhhhh!! History lesson:  The Albanians call their country “The Land of the Eagle”.  This country faces the Adriatic Sea which lies on the Balkan Peninsula.  It is snuggled between Greece and the former Yugoslavia.  Albania is known for its natural beauty…from its jagged mountains to its white sandy beaches…I can’t wait!! Although Albania is the official language, there are different dialects.  Gheg (in the northern part of Albania) and Tosk (in the southern part of Albania).  There’s also a small community of people that speak Romany.   Albanians are very expressive people. So we can speak with them with our hands and feet without even knowing the language. As a matter of fact, I can say ‘yes’ and ‘no’without saying a word. ...

OUR JOY IS OVER FLOWING!!

Imagine the emotions running through me as I was doing my morning work out on zoom when an email popped up saying “YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED TO ATTEND ALBANIA 2025  Special Convention”. I couldn’t wait to connect with the rest of the family to hear their excitement!!   That wonderful morning was November 8, 2024…..now let’s fast forward…. Flight booked…hotel booked….itinerary for our activities in Albania has been finalized…now what?  There is so much to unpack to get ready for this trip but I think it’s best I pack first….(my attempt of cracking a funny).

THE END

..well my lovely followers…my journey to Albania has come to an end…a wonderful end.  I asked my supporting cast their thoughts of Albania through their lens…enjoy their expressions. “Welcoming, beautiful, comfortable, lovely”. “Never felt unsafe”. “Felt more like a reunion of seeing friends that they hadn’t seen in over five years and some friends even longer.” …as for me…I had the best time of my life (as best as you can in this crazy system).  Thank you Albania for your love and self sacrificing spirit…Albania is a beautiful country and is definitely worth getting the Albanian experience.  I loved seeing this country through my children’s eyes…they were so happy to return and reflect on their lives there…I’m pretty sure Albanians will be planting more palm trees because they used up all their branches waving to Bre and Kev….๐Ÿ˜‚ …My world has become smaller simply because of the pure language that we all strive to speak….it’s a special thing that NO ONE can imitate...
