THE END

..well my lovely followers…my journey to Albania has come to an end…a wonderful end.  I asked my supporting cast their thoughts of Albania through their lens…enjoy their expressions. “Welcoming, beautiful, comfortable, lovely”. “Never felt unsafe”. “Felt more like a reunion of seeing friends that they hadn’t seen in over five years and some friends even longer.” …as for me…I had the best time of my life (as best as you can in this crazy system).  Thank you Albania for your love and self sacrificing spirit…Albania is a beautiful country and is definitely worth getting the Albanian experience.  I loved seeing this country through my children’s eyes…they were so happy to return and reflect on their lives there…I’m pretty sure Albanians will be planting more palm trees because they used up all their branches waving to Bre and Kev….😂 …My world has become smaller simply because of the pure language that we all strive to speak….it’s a special thing that NO ONE can imitate...

HEADING HOME…

…First Leg: Getting to the airport.  We were staying in Sarande so that was about a 4 hour drive to the airport.  We left at 4:30 a.m. to get to the airport in plenty of time…I don’t think any of us got any sleep that night…didn’t want to miss the flight.  Padre did a GREAT job of getting us safely to the airport….actually, he did a great job of driving the entire week.  Connections:  we made it to the. Airport in plenty of time..made it to our gate…and then it happened…we bumped into more friends at the airport…. …Who knew Kev and Bre ..use to be their CO when they lived in Albania. We also met two sisters heading back to Boston and a couple heading back to Italy. What’s the connection?..a badge, a red convention lanyard, a pure worship pin..all connect us to Jehovah’s people..Amazing!! Second Leg: We hopped on the plane and made it safely to Munich. …and then it was time to go our separate ways…I knew it would be hard…but I (all of us) appreciated the ti...

RINSE AND….

repeat…ate breakfast…everyday fresh bread from the bakery, croissants with your choice of filling, meats, eggs, coffee/tea/water/milk. After breakfast, we watched the Bethel watchtower study and afterwards, away the group split….some to the beach and some not to the beach…well I did go for a bit…gotta pack and fly away on Monday. The evening was spent eating and reflecting and of course packing for the flight back home. What a good time had by all!!  I’ll let you know when we all arrive safely back home…stay tuned!!

LOTS TO REPEAT

…time is running out.  We leave early Monday morning heading back to the airport…and I do mean early. Most of Saturday was spent repeating….some of us on the beach….some of us not on the beach…but always seem to find each other when it’s time to eat. The evening was spent taking a drive to Kalaje e Lëkurësit to see the sunset.  A bit of history:  The Lëkurësi castle was built in 1537.  It was built in order to defend against the Venetians. This Castle is on a strategic hill point overlooking the town Sarandë.  From there, they could control the whole town as well as the islands of Ksamil. And then back down the narrow, switch back, dirt road…just in time to see nephew get married…gotta love zoom.  Afterwards, Bre and Kev made a delicious chicken burrito bowl…thanks to Padres chopping and slicing the chicken…and then… The random fireworks started…no reason…but I’m convinced it’s because my nephew just got married!! Good-night…

A RUIN, A RUIN…

…not quite…but we did visit ruins today at the Butrint National Park.  It was about 11 miles south of Sarandë.  The history of Butrint is an ancient port city that is a fragment of the Mediterranean world history.  Nowadays, this ancient city constitutes the most visited cultural tourist destination of the country.   We also enjoyed looking at the different trees and such.  One fun fact is that the frogs over here sounds so different than what we hear back home…we heard this blood curdling sound and it was a frog…..so loud.  We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.: The map: And away we went….hot but fun….especially when you are hanging with the people you 💕  Venetian tower build in the 15th/16th century Isn’t this a beaut!!?  Although we enjoyed looking at the ruins and getting our history lesson…nothing compares to Jehovah’s creations…so beautiful y’all. These days are quickly coming to an end…although we are all saying “what day is today”? ...

SPLASH

…splashing at the beach today.  We went to the city of Ksamil today.  This little village is also located in southern Albania…it was about a 30 minute ride.  It’s located in the Butrint National Park which I think we are going to visit tomorrow. …such a beautiful day at such a beautiful beach. Enjoy the pictures: Corfu, Greece is directly across from us. Met friends  from Sicily, Italy. They were here on holiday. So cool. They had a Caleb and Sophia pin on their beach bags and Padre noticed it.

LET’S NOT FORGET

…how pretty the flowers and trees are:   Trumpet flower as well. This plant is called a trumpet or over here…Trumbeta e Engjëllit
